Summer School
Brighton Dance Diversion is an annual dance theatre summer school now in it’s 6th fantastic year. Held during the first week of August at the beautiful theatre and studios of Roedean School, Brighton.
Throughout the week our summer students participate in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop, drama, musical theatre, related arts and West End workshops. Brighton Dance Diversion (bdd) will be separated into three companies this year: Professional Co, Nimble Co and Express Co all of which participate in fun filled workshops led by the profession’s top teachers whom prepare the students for a spine-tingling dance theatre performance at the end of the week.
Within the three separate companies the participants are encouraged to improve their dance technique, experiment with their choreographic creativity and develop their performance skills. Don’t worry if you live in Worthing there is transport available as the bdd coach goes along the coast from Worthing to Brighton.
In recent years the participants have enjoyed dancing in the stunning studios of Roedean School, eating their lunch outside within the grounds and experiencing performing to all their family and friends in Roedean's professional theatre. Every year the bdd team do their best to make the show as slick as possibly with full costumes, lights and technical crew. There is even an annual bbq weather permitting on the Saturday before the performance giving our students a chance to relax and celebrate their achievements.
The full week including the performance are documented along with professional photography and edited into the exciting bdd dvd full of interviews, classes and rehearsals a real insight into how bdd works.
